Internet Talent Sourcing Training
Why?
Are you making the most of all the information people put out on the web?
Internet souring gives you an edge over your competitors as you are given access to people that are not actively searching for a job but would potentially be open to a new opportunity.
Targeted sourcing can be done on a project by project basis or used to build up a powerful database of an industry sector or local geography.
What does it entail?
I find it simplest to break down the essential sourcing skills into three levels;
Basic Sourcing Skills
- An Introduction to Search Engines
- Basic Boolean Operators
- Boolean Modifiers
- Field Search commands
- X-raying (or site searching)
- X-raying LinkedIn to discover profiles previously hidden to you
- Building powerful search strings
- Finding lists
- Using People Search Engines
- Monitoring your searches
- Optimising your LinkedIn profile to make you more findable by relevant candidates
- Building your LinkedIn network and making the most of Groups
Advanced Sourcing Skills
- Keyword identification
- Resource hunting
- Flip (or link domain) searches
- Using other social networks to hunt down hard to find talent (like Facebook, Foursquare, Google+, Naymz, Pinterest, Twitter, Xing, YouTube and many more)
- Identifying Interesting people on Twitter
- Twitter with events for sourcing
- Hunting for and with email addresses
- Using RSS to keep up to date with industry news and job leads
Social Sourcing and Community Management
- Running your own LinkedIn groups or Ning Network
- Blogging for Candidates and/or Clients
- Building an engaged following on Twitter
- Using other outposts to build your brand presence across the web – such as Flickr, Facebook and YouTube
How is it delivered?
That’s up to you.
Any training will depending on the skills your recruiters and sourcers currently have. I always assess this with a short survey before creating my training materials.
I have provided;
- Up to a half day of intensive training (more than this starts to melt brains!)
- Facilitated workshops for idea sharing and brainstorming (great if you have some tough to fill roles)
- Shorter training sessions on particular techniques of interest
- Either in person or virtual one on one mentoring sessions for members of your team
All training is tailored to your particular sector and working with your teams on roles they are currently recruiting for – aiming to find them candidates they can take back to their desks the next day.
