As if an auto DM when you follow someone on Twitter was not irritating enough, some people use TrueTwit Validation.
This isn’t a new phenomenon – the service has been irritating me and other Twitter users for some time. What really annoys me is that TrueTwit is a robot for checking whether or not I’m a robot!
If someone does not have time to take 30 seconds to cast an eye over my profile then I would question their motives for even being on Twitter. It wouldn’t wash on other social networks.
I definitely don’t want to waste my time filling in a form in the hope that someone I’ve only just discovered on Twitter might maybe perhaps follow me back.
I wonder how many Desperate Dans actually fill in the form?

Moreover, who cares how many real/robot followers one has ?
First time I received this type of DM, I thought “what the heck ? am struggling to get new followers and those users don’t want my follow ? scr… them !”.
Oh and the other thing I hate on Twitter, the “somebody is saying awful things about you” grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !
Couldn’t Twitter be a nice place to communicate for once ? without suspicion or treachery ?

thanks for this post. I was actually wondering if these tweets are legitimate. In the same fashion as someone is sending you a hack message “somebody is saying awful things about you” they could easily do the same with treutwit validation. I never click on any links that come from users I dont know especially in DM.
I know someone who is in the adult entertainment industry who uses this service religiously.
I suppose if *all* of your followers are strippers and porn actors, you need to find some way of discerning which are the real ones.
Being relatively new to Twitter. I started following this person. They said me a DM saying that they use true twit and to click on the link. I wasn’t going to click on a link from someone I didn’t know. I deleted the DM & unfollowed them. Now I see they are following me. Which they didn’t do right away.
