The Week in Links (1st Jan 2010)

by TheSourceress on January 1, 2010

I read a lot of great stuff on the web and if I’ve found it valuable, liklihood is, I’ll tweet it.

I’ve decided to start doing a weekly round up of my tweeted links here. The first day of the new year seems as good a time as any to start.

Local Links (Berkshire, UK)

Jamie Oliver’s Italian restaurant opening 2010 in Reading

I might not be Jamie’s biggest fan but I have no doubt that the restaurant opening up on the Riverside in Reading in Early 2010 will be serving delicious food. I believe the restaurant will be taking the place previously occupied by Chilli’s.

Newbury Tweetup #2
I am in the process of putting together the second #NewTweetup. I announced the date of the next Tweetup this morning. It will be on Friday 12th February. I am now seeking a venue and maybe some sponsors for drinks and snacks.

Recruiting and Sourcing

UK Sourcers Network
A bit more shameless self promotion! I have started this network on Ning in an attempt to grow Sourcing skills in the UK recruitment community.  It’s very new - I only sent out the first invitations today. I hope it grows to become a useful resource and strong community. You can also follow @UKSourcers on Twitter.

Music

I keep an ever expanding playlist on Spotify of ‘Just Cool‘ songs, I add only the coolest of songs (in my opinion) as they occurr to me. I share some of this week’s highlights here.

Classic: R.E.M - What’s The Frequency, Kenneth?

Classic: Cindy Lauper - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

I like it. Twitter can be amazingly hard to keep up with and there’s always lots of goodies to be missed, so it’s really helpful in adding a bit of permanence and allowing lazy creatures like myself the chance to catch up.
